AS SHE SAW
Directed by Alexander Pagonis

As she saw

4 mins

June, a young woman from Greece, moves to New York with her mother’s film camera. While wandering Battery Park, she writes to her mother and notices how the city’s water and light remind her of home. As the film cuts between her expressions, the photos she takes, and memories of Greece, the two places start to overlap. She begins to understand that home is something she can carry with her, not just a place she left.

Alexander Pagonis is a Greek-American filmmaker raised in Queens, New York. He began in analog photography, creating content for clothing brands, before transitioning into directing. His first short documentary, Man Over Aegean (2024), screened at eight film festivals worldwide, leading him to pursue Film and Business at New York University. He later released the short film, As She Saw (2025) and continues to develop new personal work.

CITIZEN BCE: THE ALPHABET
Directed by Paul Cristo

Citizen BCE: The Alphabet

12 mins

Citizen BCE: The Alphabet brings history to life through the eyes of Magda, the ultimate crusty ancient Yiayia and her sidekick, Fetathe cat. Magda’s dry wit reminds the audience that their “new” texting habits are actually 2,500 years old. Magda uses the art form of animation to show the evolutionary leap of language. By visualizing how ancient characters transitioned into the symbols we use now, we transform linguistic history into a compelling origin story, proving to the audience that ancient history is an active, essential—and surprisingly hilarious—part of their daily lives.

Paul’s multi-decade career composing music for film and television has led him to projects such as Mosaic OklahomaLegends of Oz: Dorothy’s ReturnBarbie: Star Light Adventure, and Warehouse 13. He has supervised and produced visual effects for several projects, most recently for the films Deep in the Forest and Mercy in the Dark.

FILM YOUR FAMILY
Directed by Julia Xanthos

Film your family

15 mins

Film Your Family by Julia Xanthos Liddy. This is a story about the importance of filming your family. The archival footage seen in this project was captured years ago by my father, Peter Xanthos, before my existence. It proves just how crucial it is to record your history. I have been able to not just tell my children about the beautiful souls that guide and guard us but able to show them. Our faith and family is everything to us. The traditions that we continue year after year is the generational wealth I pray to pass down to our children’s children.

Julia Xanthos is Greek American filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. After a full career as a staff photographer and videographer at the NY Daily News, for the last decade she has been applying her love of storytelling while working with families. Her passion is to weave together old and new film footage for families to help them give the gift of legacy to future generations. Julia is most proud of her own family; husband Tom and children Tommy and Zoe.

ΜΑΡΜΕΛΑΔΑ
Directed by Vassiliki “Vasso” Omirly

Marmelada

Marmelada is a documentary woven from tableside conversations between director Vasso Omirly and their yiayia, Rouby Omirly. Her ritual of making marmalade is captured here along with a meditation on her experiences, poetry, and survival. Rouby recounts a life across continents: her childhood in Greece during World War II, her work as a seamstress in Canada, and her eventual move to America, where she rebuilt a life and family. The film is a meditation on memory, labor, and love. Marmelada asks what it means to hold the sweetness of your beginnings and the tenacity to rebuild a life and family alone.
