Hellenic Film Society Kicks Off 2026
UTOPOLIS
at the Museum of the Moving Image — Sunday, January 11 at 3pm

Astoria, NY – January 5, 2026 – The Hellenic Film Society kicks off its first Always on Sunday Greek film screening of 2026 on January 11 with Utopolis, starring Andreas Konstantinou and Makis Papadimitriou, two of Greece’s most prolific and popular actors. The film will be shown at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, NY at 3pm.

Directed by Vladimir Subotic and co-written with Maja Todorovic, the film is as topical as today’s headlines. The compelling drama focuses on anti-migration sentiment and social conflict, as two native Greek friends, with opposing views on the subject, go on neighborhood patrol in Athens, ending in a violent confrontation by night’s end.

Utopolis is a riveting, well-crafted film that shines a light on a global issue that resonates with audiences,” says Maria Miles, Hellenic Film Society president. “The film received a tremendous reception when it premiered at the New York Greek Film Expo in October, and we are proud to present an encore screening.”

The film is in Greek and English, with English subtitles. For tickets and further information, please visit www.hellenicfilmsociety.org. Use discount code SUNDAY20. The Museum of the Moving Image is located at 37-01 35th Avenue in Astoria, NY.
